2018 in Review

As 2018 draws to a close, we would like to take you through the journey we’ve had this year. Our sixth year in the business saw new opportunities, great learning and exciting partnerships.

The year began with a Telephone Skills program for one of our long-standing clients, a German optical brand. This was just the first of many programs that we delivered for this company across India. Multiple batches of telephone skills, business communication and presentation skills programs were conducted across Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.

First Open Workshop in Bangalore

This year, we conducted our first open workshop: Email Writing for Professionals in Bangalore. The workshop saw professionals from advertising, media, PR, IT and HR participate. At the workshop, participants reviewed the best practices in professional email writing and also tackled difficult situations such as delivering negative news, saying no politely, and writing assertively. Read more about the workshop here.

The year, then, got progressively busy with multiple batches of Professional Email Writing Skills, Speak Better Write Better and Express Yourself – some of our flagship programs – for an agro-based multinational company in Chennai. In the second year of our engagement with the company, we trained over 300 participants!

We’ve always been training service providers with the ability to adapt and customise solutions for different industries. This year we’ve proved we’re relevant across the spectrum by partnering with a leading cosmetic surgery centre in Chennai. EnglishCoach worked with the organisation’s sales and service teams, training them in business etiquette and effective telephone skills. The intervention focussed on training the teams in communicating with empathy and improving customer interactions.

New Program Launches

We’ve added two new business communication programs to our kitty this year: Advanced Writing Skills and Six Steps to Effective Report Writing.

Advanced Writing Skills was first delivered for a UK-based legal and business research company located in Bangalore. The program was customized for SMEs and aimed at equipping them with exceptional written English skills. An intensive and power-packed program with 30-hours of classroom training, the program received positive feedback and saw high results. The participants were also supported by online learning and one-on-one coaching.

Six Steps to Effective Report Writing, the other new business communication program, takes participants through the fundamentals in English while providing ample practice in developing well-structured reports. Classroom training is supported by online learning and coaching. Read more about the program here.

Business Writing Skills, a customized email writing program for analysts for a leading German banking and financial services company, kept our trainers on their toes through the year. 2018 was the third year of our engagement with the company with close to 1,000 trained since 2016.

One-on-One Coaching Solutions

This year, we provided a number of one-on-one coaching solutions for mid and senior management at different organisations. We partnered with a leading VC firm in Banaglore, an IT solutions provider in Hyderabad and a leading infrastructure company in Chennai for one-on-one coaching programs.

One-on-one coaching ensures that solutions are tailored to meet the learning needs of the coachee and the expectations of the stakeholders. Coaching is personalised and delivered at a pace that is comfortable for the coachee. Short, intensive input sessions, supported with online learning and hands-on classroom practice, ensure learning is continuous and measurable.

A successful year for EnglishCoach ends on a high with ongoing programs for a US-based pharmaceutical company located in Hyderabad and a Fintech company located in Chennai. We’ve started program delivery for these clients with sessions on language enhancement, email writing, telephone skills and business etiquette. Classroom training and online learning will continue for these audiences into early 2019.

We’re grateful to our clients and well wishers for this wonderful year and look forward to a bright 2019!
